Most people may already know about cultured meat or even beyond meat which you can start finding almost everywhere, even at your local Tim Hortons. But do people really know how the meat grown in labs is produced, or how it is made? Surprisingly no… and that’s why I am going to simplify the process to you.

How it’s made:

The meat is produced by taking a test of the animal’s muscles. Technicians extract stem cells from the tissue, massively multiply them and allow them to divide into basic fibers and then shape up to form muscle tissue! But it does take a little bit more time to create this kind of meat, for a simple hamburger patty, it takes 9 weeks or more. But these scientists also had to perfect cultured meat, it didn’t just come out to be perfect. It needed to have the same taste, texture, size, smell, etc.. and this happened by planting and developing three forms of cells — smooth tissue, endothelial cells and satellite cells, a mix that rendered the final product with the same characteristics of normal meat.

Cellular agriculture is more than just meat…

There are many companies working on animal-free eggs, milk, leather, etc… Once these products are introduced to the world, there is no going back and life will be much different as agriculture is one of the main components of climate change. This small yet drastic change can shift society to the right path!

In an upcoming article:

I will be publishing an article on many questions people have on cellular agriculture, for example, “can vegans and vegetarians eat these products?”, “is it halal?” These are very good questions and while this emerging technology is coming into the fourth industrial revolution we should know every single thing about it and if it is safe for all people. I will be sure to go in-depth to be able to correctly display facts to these questions!
